Lyf by Ascott is a next-gen, modern coliving concept currently based in South-East Asia, Singapore, and Japan. These two current locations are just the start for this multinational coliving brand as there are more locations planned between 2021 and 2024. With more locations to come, the ability to travel, work, play, stay in multiple cities in Asia with the feeling of never having lost the comforts of home will be a thing of the past.
So, what can you expect from Lyf?
According to Lyf by Ascott, it all starts with having a Lyf guard. No, this is not one of our (epic) puns, this is the actual name for their community managers. The Lyf guards are the go-to people for getting around the city, all the ins and outs of the place. Want some information about must-visits, restaurants, the culture or the main social norms? They are your source of information in any situation. They also help host the events within Lyf and also provide you with a mini-tour book of specific things to do around that Lyf location, so you can read information about your new home in your own time. Some amazing events the Lyf guards often host are;

- Dinner evenings
- Nights out into town
- Local festivals and parties
- The occasional tour around the area
Let’s look into some specific events that have been organized lately. Last October, Lyf Fukuoka in Japan hosted a live performance with ACRO.POLIS, a coworking & recording studio for local music creators.
The Lyf Funan Singapore residents tried their hand at whipping up local Singaporean Mee Goreng recently and also got to taste their delicious hard work.
Shared areas
Speaking of good food, all Lyf compounds have social kitchens where you can cook with friends and families and maybe treat each other to the culinary storms of your countries. Chillax in the community lounges, have some drinks, play some games, or just work in the afternoon on your project, alone or with others. Need to do your laundry? Don’t fret, all locations have fully operational laundromats with plenty of machines available for all. At the Singapore branch, there is an amazing giant hamster wheel in the gym area, where you can go and burn some of your extra energy!
This amazing co-home is very technologically advanced. Every location comes with high-speed Wi-Fi, 24/7 security, as well as a mobile access key. Lyf has also been simplified by providing you with a multi-function app, allowing you to stay up to date about the happenings in your Lyf home.
Staying for Lyf
Lyf is very busy working in many Asian cities. Currently, there are three locations finished, with the Bangkok location set to re-open in 2022. Lyf Bangkok has one type of room available, the so-called “one of a kind” room. This is a 2-person ensuite studio (16m2) with a queen-sized bed with an in-room safe to protect all your valuables.
The Singapore and Japan locations have a full collection of room types that Lyf is hoping to offer in their future locations.

Living the Lyf by Ascott in the future
In the coming years, there will be many opportunities to travel and stay with Lyf by Ascott in many countries, especially for young professionals, expats, and travelers The coliving market spends more than 200 billion dollars a year and Lyf is more than ready to start growing with the market. The company is monitoring the potential of Australia, France, Japan, and Singapore to have at least 10,000 rooms.

Lyf’s first coliving property in Europe, Lyf Gambetta Paris. This 139 unit coliving property is in the heart of the 20th arrondissement, nearby galleries, cinemas, trendy cafés and restaurants, street art, and music venues.
Lyf Collingwood Melbourne, Australia (Opening 2022)
Lyf Collingwood Melbourne is Ascott’s first Lyf property in Australia. It is nestled in one of Melbourne’s hippest neighborhoods and home to many offices, galleries, cafes, and shops. It is also within a short walking distance to medical facilities, several tram stops, a bus interchange, and railway stations. Lyf Melbourne will offer 105 units consisting of ‘One of a Kind’ studios and ‘Two of a Kind’ apartments. Lyf Zhangjiang Shanghai is set within Zhangjiang Hi-tech Park, an innovative business park located in the heart of Zhangjiang. The 100-room coliving property is near Fudan University, research & development centers, corporate office headquarters, and shopping malls such as Shengda Mall and Greenland Plaza. The perfect location for students, young professionals, and city-lovers alike. This coliving space offers ‘One of a Kind’ studios, ‘Lyf Style’ themed studios and the well-known ‘All Together’ apartments as well as social facilities and spaces such as the ‘Bond’ social kitchen, ‘Connect’ coworking and lounge zone, ‘Burn’ social gym and ‘Wash & Hang’ laundromat.
lyf Midtown Hangzhou, China (Opening 2021)
The 109-unit lyf Midtown Hangzhou is also located in China around the Gongshu district. It is also situated near a shopping mall and directly opposite the Hangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Many famous tourist spots are about a 30-minute drive away, such as retail, dining, and nightlife options. Lyf Midtown Hangzhou offers 109 rooms such as ‘One of a Kind’ studios, ‘Two of a Kind rooms’ and ‘All Together apartments’. The social facilities and spaces are the ‘Bond’ social kitchen, the ‘Connect’ coworking and lounge zone, Burn’ social gym, and ‘Wash & Hang’ laundromat. Which we now know by heart.
lyf Shougang Park Beijing, China (Opening 2024)
Lyf Shougang Park Beijing is located within the Shougang Industrial Park. The park is a landmark of urban redevelopment in the city and will host the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, which is pretty awesome. Lyf Shougang Park Beijing offers 370 rooms composed of ‘One of a Kind’ studios, ‘Two of a Kind’ and ‘All Together apartments. Social facilities and spaces include the ‘Bond’ social kitchen, ‘Burn’ social gym, ‘Wash & Hang’ laundromat, ‘Connect’ coworking and lounge zone, and a cafe. Almost identical to the other Lyf properties in the world, making it easier to feel at home when switching locations to travel and explore different cities together with Lyf.
lyf Malate Manila, The Philippines (Opening 2023)
Lyf Malate Manila is located in the heart of Malate, a financial and historical hotspot in Manila, and is surrounded by cafes and upscale restaurants. Lyf Malate Manila is a 15-minute drive to the SM Mall of Asia, the largest shopping mall in Manila and once in all of Asia. Lyf Manila offers 202 rooms; ‘One of a Kind’ studios, ‘Two of a Kind’ and ‘All Together apartments.
